A 40-year-old woman was arrested after police discovered several explosives at a Tesla dealership in Colorado. This incident appears to be the latest in a series of protests targeting Tesla CEO and DOGE leader Elon Musk.
Lucie Grace Nelson faces charges including the use of explosives or incendiary devices, felony criminal mischief, and criminal attempt to commit felonies, as stated in a release from the Loveland Police Department.
Authorities launched an "extensive investigation" on January 29 after the dealership was repeatedly vandalized and incendiary devices were found on the premises.
The vandalism escalated over several days, with additional incidents reported on February 2 and February 7, each more severe than the last. According to Loveland Police Department Public Information Officer Chris Padgett, the dealership was left with "very offensive messages, derogatory in nature" during these earlier events.
During police surveillance, Nelson was allegedly seen on Monday night with additional incendiary devices and materials linked to vandalism. She was arrested without incident and later booked into jail, where she was issued a $10,000 cash surety bond.
"The Loveland Police Department continues to work closely with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ Denver Field Division, with federal charges likely to follow," the department stated.
Padgett noted that while it is unclear if others are involved, there is no current threat to the community.
The protests against Tesla and Musk have been fueled in part by Indivisible, an organization founded by former Democratic congressional staffers. The group has encouraged activists to demonstrate against Musk, even publishing a "tool kit" with instructions on how to "take the fight to Elon." This includes specific steps for planning and executing protests at Tesla dealerships, showrooms, and factories.
"Members of the House of Representatives will be back on your home turf from Friday, February 14th, through Sunday, February 23rd, and it’s our opportunity to remind them who they work for," the group’s website states. "Fighting back against the Trump-Musk coup is going to take all of us."
These protests occur in the wake of spending cuts at various federal agencies, directed by former President Donald Trump under the Department of Government Efficiency.
