Washington:
President Donald Trump said on Monday that Ukraine’s leader Volodymyr Zelensky should be “more appreciative” of the US support in the face of Russia’s invasion, following a public disagreement between the two leaders.
“Well, I just think he should be more appreciative, because this country has stood by them through thick and thin,” Trump told reporters at the White House.
When asked if a minerals deal between Washington and Kyiv—intended to help resolve the conflict—was no longer viable, Trump responded: “No, I don’t think so.”
Trump was questioned about reports suggesting he was considering halting military aid to Ukraine but said: “I haven’t even discussed that right now.
“I mean, right now, we’ll see what happens. A lot of things are unfolding even as we speak,” he added.
“I mean, literally as we speak. I could give you an answer now, and then return to my office—the beautiful Oval Office—only to find that the answer is already outdated.”
