New Delhi:
Amitabh Bachchan, whose stardom transcends age, generations, and regions, recently reflected on how work has become increasingly challenging as he ages in his latest blog post.
Amitabh Bachchan also shared that he often forgets his lines, makes mistakes on set, and requests directors for another chance to correct his errors.
“Meetings and meetings and meetings are endless as work continues to come in, making it a test and a challenge to decide what to accept, what to reject, and what to politely decline. The discussions often revolve around the Film Industry, its functioning, and its current state—none of which I am familiar with AT ALL,” Amitabh Bachchan wrote in his blog.
“The constant concern has always been about the work I am getting and whether I will be able to do justice to it. What happens after that is a blur. The production, the costs, the marketing, the exhibition—it’s all an unknown, incomprehensible dark blur,” he continued.
“As you age, it’s not just the challenge of memorizing lines; it’s the multiple age-related contingencies that need to be managed to deliver the content as required. Then you come home and realize the mistakes you made and how to fix them—a midnight call to the director to ask for another chance to improve or correct,” Amitabh Bachchan candidly shared.
Reflecting on the fleeting nature of fame, he wrote, “Another day has gone, another writing has come, another meeting with the Ef has been initiated at the GOJ, and yet another apprehension still lingers. Will they be there or not?
“And there is a feeling and observation that the enthusiasm of well-wishers gradually fades. It has to—professionals fade away over time. When the sport no longer supports the talent and performance, they leave. When the actor faces a face that no longer faces the audience, they go. It will be the same for everyone. No matter what is said to the contrary, the cycle of life never stops,” he added.
Amitabh Bachchan’s recent cryptic tweet sparked speculation about his retirement. Later, he clarified in his signature humorous style during an episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati.
