HSB, a subsidiary of Munich Re, has partnered with Flume to offer its home water leak detection solution to insurance clients.
The company will recommend the solution to insurance carriers and partners, enabling them to distribute the offering to homeowners.
Flume’s Home Water Protection Service provides 24/7 water flow monitoring with Wi-Fi connectivity, utilizing a single sensor attached to the water meter.
It offers insights into water usage and sends leak alerts through a mobile app powered by algorithms.
John B. Riggs, HSB’s Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice-President of Applied Technology Solutions, stated: “By incorporating Flume’s water flow sensor system, HSB continues its mission to help customers leverage the latest internet-connected technologies to safeguard their property and belongings. Flume’s Home Water Protection Service provides homeowners with peace of mind by helping to prevent and mitigate water leaks that can lead to extensive damage.”
Eric Adler, CEO and Co-founder of Flume, added: “Flume is thrilled to collaborate with HSB to transform how insurance clients address water damage claims. HSB is a leader in the ‘connect and protect’ movement within the insurance industry, making this partnership a remarkable opportunity.
Through our Home Water Protection Service, powered by a single Flume smart water sensor, we aim to significantly reduce these claims while offering policyholders a smart water management solution.”
HSB’s portfolio includes equipment breakdown insurance, sensor-based Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, and AI-backed services.
In March 2024, the company launched Cyber for Auto, a cyber insurance solution designed to protect personal data in connected vehicles.
