India overcame New Zealand’s 351-7 to secure a four-wicket victory in the 2025 Champions Trophy final in Dubai.
India clinched back-to-back global cricket titles with a four-wicket win over New Zealand in the Champions Trophy final in Dubai.
Rohit Sharma spearheaded the chase with 76 runs off 83 balls, while KL Rahul’s unbeaten 34 helped India reach the target of 254-6 in 49 overs, securing their third Champions Trophy title on Sunday.
Earlier, half-centuries from Daryl Mitchell and Michael Bracewell powered New Zealand, who chose to bat after winning the toss, to 251-7 in 50 overs on a slow and two-paced Dubai pitch.
Sharma provided a fiery start to India’s innings, smashing seven fours and three sixes. Hardik Pandya contributed 18 runs, forming a crucial 38-run partnership off 36 balls with Rahul for the sixth wicket.

This marked India’s 23rd win in 24 matches across the last three ICC men’s tournaments since 2023, with their only loss coming against Australia in the 2023 Cricket World Cup final.
India had previously won the Twenty20 World Cup final against South Africa last year.
Both teams have tasted success in this tournament before. India’s prior victory came in 2013, and they were runners-up to Pakistan in 2017. They also shared the trophy with Sri Lanka in 2002 after a rain-affected two-day final.
New Zealand won the Champions Trophy (then the ICC Knockout Trophy) in 2000, defeating India in the final in Nairobi, Kenya. It remains the only limited-overs ICC trophy in New Zealand’s cabinet.
All of India’s matches were played in Dubai after the Indian government denied permission for the team to travel to the official host, Pakistan, citing security concerns.

Unbeaten India at the Champions Trophy
India remained undefeated throughout the tournament, securing wins against Bangladesh, Pakistan, and New Zealand in the group stage, followed by a victory against Australia in the semifinal.
New Zealand defeated Pakistan in Karachi and Bangladesh in Rawalpindi before traveling to Dubai to face India.
The Blackcaps then returned to Pakistan, where they triumphed over South Africa in the second semifinal in Lahore.
