Hyundai Witnesses a Fourfold Surge in EV Sales: Is It the Creta Electric Influence?

By: fateh

The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) has released electric vehicle (EV) sales data for February 2025. The report highlights that Hyundai Motor India has emerged as the third best-selling manufacturer in the electric passenger vehicle segment, recording a fourfold increase in year-on-year sales. Specifically, the brand sold 738 units in February, marking a staggering 481.10% growth compared to the 127 units sold during the same period in 2024. Additionally, sales surged by 129.91% compared to January 2025.

While the sales figures for specific models have not been disclosed, the significant rise in Hyundai’s EV sales is largely attributed to the recent launch of the Creta Electric in the Indian market. Introduced in January, this electric version of the popular SUV is capitalizing on the success of its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart.

Currently, the Hyundai Creta Electric is priced between Rs 17.99 lakh and Rs 24.37 lakh (ex-showroom). The vehicle retains a design similar to its ICE variant but incorporates slight EV-specific modifications, including a new 17-inch alloy wheel design. Buyers can choose from eight monotone and two dual-tone paint schemes.

The Creta Electric is equipped with a host of advanced safety features, including a digital key, Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), a 360-degree camera, and additional protective equipment for passengers. These features are distributed across four trim options: Executive, Smart, Premium, and Excellence.

The vehicle offers two battery pack choices: a 42 kWh battery with a claimed range of 390 km and a larger 51.4 kWh battery offering an estimated range of 473 km on a single charge. Both battery variants support DC fast charging, allowing them to recharge from 10% to 80% in just 58 minutes.
