Former Israeli government adviser Daniel Levy contends that Israel will persist in blocking efforts to solidify the ceasefire in Gaza.
As long as Israel keeps shifting the goalposts, Levy argues, there is no possibility of reaching phase two of the ceasefire agreement, which Israel itself signed.
Levy, who serves as president of the US/Mideast Project, explains to host Steve Clemons that the critical issue is whether the United States, the guarantor of the agreement, will permit Israel to undermine it.
Phase two of the ceasefire requires Israel to withdraw from the Gaza Strip and commit to ending the war—a step Israel is reluctant to take.
