FBI Seeks Suspect in Arson Case at Tesla Supercharger Station in Washington State

The FBI has released video footage of a masked man they believe is responsible for setting fire to a Tesla Supercharger station in Washington state. The agency noted that the suspect may have injuries consistent with being near an “explosion.”

The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday at a Tesla Supercharger located in the South Sound Center in Lacey. The Lacey Police Department confirmed receiving multiple 911 calls reporting a loud noise in the area. According to a statement from FBI Seattle, the fire caused significant damage to the station and the surrounding area.

The suspect, described as a White male between 5-foot-10 and 6-foot-2, was wearing a dark hooded jacket, gray pants, and a face covering during the incident. The FBI stated that the man “may have” injuries such as a concussion, burns, or shrapnel wounds, consistent with being near an explosion or intense heat. However, officials did not explicitly confirm that the fire was caused by an explosion.

The suspect was seen carrying a white bag, possibly made of plastic, and walks with a distinctive gait, including a slight limp with his right leg kicking out and, at times, his right hand held behind his back.

This incident follows an FBI notice that Tesla vehicles, chargers, and dealerships have been targeted in at least nine states since January. These attacks, which include arson, gunfire, and vandalism, have occurred amid nationwide backlash against Tesla CEO Elon Musk after he was appointed by former President Donald Trump as a policy advisor for the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Authorities are asking anyone near the Target and Kohl’s stores in the South Sound Center, as well as the Chehalis Western and Woodland Creek trails, to review any doorbell or security camera footage that may show the suspect getting into a car on Monday night or Tuesday morning.

Tesla and Target have not yet responded to Fox News Digital’s requests for comment, and the Lacey Police Department declined to comment on the matter.
