First Impressions of the Xiaomi X Pro QLED (2025)

By: fateh

In the smart TV market, Xiaomi is hard to beat when it comes to value. Just like its smartphones, Xiaomi has been aggressive with its pricing strategy for smart TVs, which has helped the brand climb the ranks since its launch in India. Xiaomi has now introduced some iterative updates to its X Pro QLED series, which was launched last year. With its 2025 models, the brand aims to democratize yet another feature. I had the opportunity to try out the new TVs briefly, and here are my first impressions.

During the briefing, I got to check out the 65-inch variant of the X Pro QLED TV. The design remains largely unchanged, featuring the same slim metal bezel surrounding the large display. In addition to the 43-inch and 55-inch options, I was informed that the TV will also be available in a smaller 32-inch variant. The smaller size means it will be offered at an even more affordable price, making QLED technology more accessible than ever.

There’s a new remote control with rounded sides, making it more comfortable to hold. It’s also taller than the previous version and now includes a number pad along with new RGYB buttons at the bottom.

The TV’s slim design is now complemented by improved built-in box speakers. Xiaomi has taken feedback from the previous series and enhanced the audio delivery. The brand claims these speakers deliver better sound compared to earlier models, though the 43-inch model retains the same 30W output. The 55-inch and 65-inch models see a slight boost to 34W. During my short experience, the audio quality was loud, clear, and immersive, making it seem like an optional soundbar might not be necessary. However, this was in a controlled, studio-like environment.

The panels have seen some changes—sort of. While the displays typically operate at 60Hz, they can now double their refresh rate using DLG (Dual Line Gate) technology when needed. Xiaomi claims this is useful for watching sports (with enhanced motion) or playing high-refresh-rate games on a console. All three models offer 4K 120Hz panels, though it’s worth noting that DLG reduces the resolution when aiming for a faster frame rate.

The standout feature of this year’s X Pro QLED series is the Filmmaker Mode (FMM). Xiaomi claims this mode displays content (excluding gaming) from any source—Blu-ray discs, streaming, or broadcast—exactly as the filmmaker intended. FMM corrects aspect ratios and frame rates, preventing artificial enhancements from altering the viewing experience. While it sounds fancy, it’s essentially a picture mode that disables unnecessary alterations like frame insertion (motion-enhancing MEMC), sharpening, or color boosting found in standard or other picture modes. The result is natural, untouched content, whether you’re watching standard definition or HDR. The mode can be activated manually in the picture settings or automatically triggered by the content’s metadata.

During my demo, the Dolby Vision Filmmaker Mode in the new X Pro series made colors appear natural, with reduced sharpening and motion interpolation turned off.

On the software front, Xiaomi’s PatchWall continues to be a part of the experience. PatchWall and the underlying Android TV worked seamlessly during the demo. However, affordable smart TVs are known to lag as they age. With no hardware upgrades compared to the previous models, I’m a bit skeptical about how well the new X Pro will perform over time.

The port selection remains unchanged from previous models.

The smart TV experience is powered by a quad-core Cortex A55 CPU and a Mali G52 GPU, with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage—identical to the previous model. The port selection also remains the same, including two USB 2.0 ports, one Ethernet port, an AV port, three HDMI ports (one with eARC), an earphone jack, and an antenna port.

We’ll be thoroughly testing the Xiaomi X Pro QLED series in our review. With prices starting as low as Rs. 31,999, these QLED TVs seem feature-packed, but be sure to check out our detailed review before making a decision.
