Mumbai: The Maharashtra Cyber Department on Tuesday recorded the statement of social media influencer Apoorva Makhija in connection with the ‘India’s Got Latent’ controversy, an official confirmed.

The Maharashtra Cyber and Mumbai Police are jointly investigating podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia’s controversial remarks made on Samay Raina’s YouTube show, which triggered an obscenity case. The show, India’s Got Latent, came under scrutiny after Allahbadia made vulgar comments about parents and sex, sparking widespread outrage.

Ms. Makhija, who is among those named in the obscenity case registered with Maharashtra Cyber, appeared before officials on Tuesday afternoon and was questioned regarding the matter, the official stated. She had also previously appeared before the Mumbai Police for her alleged objectionable comment during the YouTube show.

On Monday, YouTubers Ranveer Allahbadia and Ashish Chanchlani separately visited the Maharashtra Cyber headquarters in Navi Mumbai to record their statements in connection with the case. The department has also summoned actor Rakhi Sawant, who appeared as a guest on the show, to record her statement on February 27.

Additionally, the Maharashtra Cyber Department is yet to record the statement of comedian and YouTuber Samay Raina, who hosted the India’s Got Latent show.

In a related development, the Assam Police are also investigating an obscenity case against Ranveer Allahbadia and others.
