Lucknow: BSP leader Mayawati made significant changes to the party’s leadership on Sunday. She removed her nephew, Akash Anand, from all party positions and declared that there would be no successor to her in the party as long as she is alive. This announcement came during a high-level meeting in Lucknow, where she gathered party office bearers from across the country to discuss strategies to strengthen the party.

Mayawati appointed her brother, Anand Kumar, and Ramji Gautam as national coordinators to manage party affairs nationwide. The former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister emphasized that she would not name a successor while she is alive, stating that the party and its mission are her top priorities, and personal relationships come second.

Interestingly, Mayawati had previously dismissed Akash Anand last year, only to reinstate him later and position him as her political successor. However, she made a decisive move last month by expelling Akash Anand’s father-in-law, Ashok Siddharth, from the party. Siddharth, a former Rajya Sabha MP, was accused of fostering factionalism and engaging in anti-party activities. Alongside Siddharth, Nitin Singh, the BSP’s Meerut district in-charge responsible for overseeing the party’s operations in southern states, was also expelled.
