Chennai:
Jan Suraaj Party Chief Prashant Kishor has expressed strong support for Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections, stating that TVK Chief Vijay represents a new hope for millions of people seeking change in the state’s politics.
Mr. Kishor attended TVK’s one-year celebration on Wednesday. He serves as an advisor to Mr. Vijay, who aims to challenge the dominance of the two Dravidian parties in the upcoming Assembly elections.
Prashant Kishor said, “Vijay doesn’t need help with strategy. Four years ago, I announced that I wouldn’t work with any party or leader, but Vijay is not just a political leader to me. He is Tamil Nadu’s new hope. TVK is a movement of millions who desire a new political order in Tamil Nadu, and TVK and Vijay embody that change.”
Prashant Kishor also criticized the governance of the ruling DMK, accusing their development model of being rooted in corruption, dynasty politics, and communalism.
On the other hand, TVK Chief Vijay, addressing the recent controversy over the three-language policy, likened the ongoing tussle between the state and the Centre to a fight between kindergarten students.
“Funds for education have been withheld from the state government. This is like LKG and UKG students fighting. Their responsibility is to provide, and the state’s responsibility is to claim its rights. Amid these significant issues, two parties (BJP and DMK) are busy playing with hashtags,” Mr. Vijay said.
He also emphasized that they are in a crucial phase and that a strong organizational structure is the foundation of any party’s strength.
“We are in the process of strengthening our party from root to branch. Our party is for the poor and ordinary people. Therefore, our functionaries will come from such backgrounds. Our party is not for landlords. Today, whoever gains power becomes a landlord. Our first task is to remove landlords from politics—those whose mindset is solely focused on making money in every possible way, without concern for the welfare of the people or the nation,” he said.
