Moscow:
President Vladimir Putin has visited the western Russian region of Kursk for the first time since Ukrainian forces captured some areas in the region, Russian news agencies reported on Wednesday.
During his visit, Putin toured a control center used by Russian forces and received a briefing from Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the Russian General Staff. Gerasimov informed Putin that Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region are now surrounded.
Putin reportedly emphasized the need for Russian forces to fully liberate the region from Ukrainian troops as quickly as possible.
