Bhopal: In a tragic incident during the Holi festivities on Friday afternoon, three individuals lost their lives in a car accident in Rewa district, Madhya Pradesh. The victims, all relatives, were returning from Katra to their native village, Gambhirpur, located in the Garh police station area.
What was meant to be a joyful journey back home after celebrating Holi turned into a devastating tragedy when their car plunged off a bridge. The incident occurred around 3 p.m. on Agdal Bridge, as confirmed by Garh police station in-charge Avinash Pandey in a phone conversation with IANS.
The accident was reported by locals and passers-by, who alerted the authorities. Emergency services promptly arrived at the scene, and the victims were rushed to the nearby Gangev Community Hospital. Despite all efforts, all three were declared dead upon arrival.
The police have identified the victims as 45-year-old Akshay Lal Patel, 43-year-old Brijendra Patel, and 20-year-old Luvkush Patel. Post-mortem examinations were conducted, and their bodies were handed over to their grieving family members.
Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. The absence of eyewitnesses or survivors has made it difficult to determine the exact cause of the accident. However, preliminary reports from police sources suggest that the car may have been traveling at high speed. It is speculated that the driver might have abruptly slammed the brakes, possibly due to a stray animal on National Highway Number 30, leading to a loss of control. The car reportedly veered off sharply before plunging off the bridge.
The identity of the driver remains unclear at this stage.
