Two Men Charged with Murder of Brianna Long Over a Year After Her Death

Two men have been charged with the murder of Brianna Long, more than a year after the 21-year-old Georgia college student was tragically killed while at work. Long was struck by a stray bullet on October 29, 2023, as she worked as a bartender at The Pier Bar near Valdosta State University (VSU), where she was a student. A coworker was also hit by a bullet but later recovered from his injuries.

On Tuesday, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) announced that Tsion Clayton, 23, and Kimone Green, 21, have been charged with one count of malice murder in connection with Long’s death. Both men are currently in custody on separate, unrelated cases—one in Georgia and the other in Florida. Additional details about their arrest and charges were not immediately provided.

According to the GBI, agents believe the two men were in Remerton, Georgia, that night looking for someone involved in an ongoing gang dispute. Long was working at the bar when a fight erupted outside the establishment, leading to gunfire. She was struck by a stray bullet and later died in the hospital from her injuries.

Long, a former Paulding High School soccer star, graduated in 2020 and was attending VSU to pursue a career as a dental hygienist. Her mother, Brandi Spinks, described her as their "world," highlighting her achievements as a cheerleader, Miss Paulding County, and honors student. Long was remembered as a talented athlete with a bright future, known for her infectious laughter, compassion, and ability to make everyone around her feel loved.

The GBI noted that additional charges are expected as the investigation continues. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the case to contact the GBI Thomasville Office at 229-225-4090 or submit anonymous tips by calling 800-597-TIPS (8477) or online.
