Volkswagen has recently announced that the Tiguan R Line will be launched in India, with the official release date confirmed for April 14. Once launched, the Tiguan R Line will be the top-tier variant of the latest iteration of the SUV and will be sold as a fully imported model in the country. This means it will come with a significantly higher price tag compared to the standard version of the vehicle.

The Volkswagen Tiguan R Line features a sportier design compared to its predecessor, evident in its more aggressive front and rear bumpers. The design is further enhanced by a rear spoiler and side panels. Additionally, the vehicle boasts a new headlamp design connected by an LED light strip, larger 19-inch alloy wheels, and an overall length that is 30 mm longer than the previous generation. However, the wheelbase remains unchanged.

Inside, the Tiguan R Line is equipped with a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.9-inch central touchscreen infotainment system. These screens are powered by Volkswagen’s MIB4 software platform, which supports over-the-air updates. The cabin features a minimalist dashboard design, sporty seats, and an ambient lighting package with three distinct light zones.

Built on the MQB Evo platform, the India-spec Volkswagen Tiguan R Line is expected to be powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 265 hp. This engine will be paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system. In global markets, the Tiguan R Line offers additional engine options, including mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid petrol engines, as well as a diesel engine.
